| | Abstract | Fruit Flies intrude the homes of millions of Americans each year. Imagine a |
| | new, innovative way to get rid of those pesky insects once and for all. |
| | Experimenting on how LED’s affect the activity level of fruit flies could be a |
| | step towards this new invention. Using four different colors of LEDs, |
| | (red, amber red, green and yellow), the fruit flies (kept in a plastic flask) |
| | were tested with a different color each day for eight days. The flies were |
| | tested in 24-hour cycles, and a CPO timer was used to keep track of the |
| | count number. After averaging out both trials, the flies’ activity level was |
| | greatest when tested with the green LED. |
